2019 WMC

Centered on the theme “Intelligent Connectivity”, the 2019 MWC became a turning point for 5G technology to transition from the laboratory to commercial use. Industry pioneers showcased 5G network breakthroughs in low latency and high bandwidth. For example, remote surgery demonstrations verified 5G’s transformative potential in healthcare—doctors remotely controlled surgical robots in real time via 5G networks—marking the leap of communication technology from “connecting people” to “connecting everything”. Innovations in foldable devices also took the spotlight; flexible display technology enabled seamless switching between smartphone and tablet forms, opening up new directions for mobile terminal design. Additionally, the integration of AI and IoT emerged, such as green communication solutions that optimized base station energy consumption through AI, advancing early exploration of smart cities and industrial automation. This exhibition laid a network foundation for scenarios like smart homes and autonomous driving, heralding the era of the Internet of Everything for mobile technology.
